What is Bamboo Flooring?
Bamboo flooring
is now recognised as one of the world’s finest
hardwood flooring timbers, a premium replacement for
traditional timber floors made from the stalks of bamboo.
Solid Bamboo flooring is an engineered product manufactured
to exacting standards that utilises state of the art
manufacturing equipment to process the Bamboo in to multi-layered,
tongue and groove boards.
Why Is Bamboo Flooring Associated
With “Eco-Friendly”?
Our Bamboo products
allow you to have a quality timber alternative without
damaging forests anywhere - we only prune living Bamboo,
and harvest the same plant every six years. Because it
is a harvested grass that lives for 200 to 250 years,
it continually regenerates itself and for this reason
is a truly renewable, sustainable resource. Quality standards
ensure the environment is protected during the manufacturing
process. It is harvested under strict control, kiln dried,
milled, fabricated and finished. No pesticides, herbicides
or fertilisers are used in the growing process and no
toxins or formaldehydes in manufacturing.
What style
of Floor Finish (Coating) Is Used?
All our solid Bamboo-flooring
boards are protected against insects, rot and mildew.
The surfaces are pre-finished with 5 water based coatings
and two top coats of solvent free refinishable scratch
resistant aluminium oxide wear and UV protection in either
a gloss or satin finish.
Is It Possible To Re-Finish
Bamboo Flooring?
Yes, definitely! The flooring can typically
be re-finished as you would for timber flooring.
Can
Bamboo Flooring Be Installed Over ‘In-Floor’ Heating?
Yes. Because of its natural dimensional stability, Bamboo
flooring is perfectly suited over ‘in-floor’ heating
but only as a floating floor.
What Kind Of Maintenance Is Necessary
For Bamboo Flooring?
Maintenance is simple: Vacuum or damp mop as needed to
remove loose dirt or grit before it can scratch the
surface. For hard to remove spots, use a citrus based solvent.
Preventative maintenance goes a long way in
assuring a long lasting beautiful floor, below are a few
suggestions:
- Use dirt trapping floor mats inside and outside entry
doors
- Ensure flat pads are applied to the foot of all
chair legs, tables and furniture
- Make sure that high
heels are in good repair as they can do severe damage
Is There A Guarantee On Bamboo Flooring?
There is a manufacturers warranty to replace defective
boards as a result of faulty material or manufacturing,
excluding damage caused by negligence, water intrusion
or improper maintenance.
Note: The colour of hardwoods is affected by natural
light and your floor may change colour slightly with
age. As timber is a natural product no two floors will
be the same, nor is any sample shown an exact
replica of what to expect, only an indication. Timber
will vary in colour and grain between species, batches
and mills; and variation between the colours and grains
of boards should be expected. |
